HRD scientist John Kaplan, along with his colleagues Mark DeMaria and John Knaff, was awarded the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal “for providing skillful operational hurricane intensity models as demonstrated by the NHC forecast verifications for the 2009 and 2010 seasons.”
