NOAA42 took off around 11AM eastern for a mission en-route down to St. Croix. They will drop ocean measuring instruments (AXBTs, or Airborne Expendable Bathythermographs) to gather data. Here is their flight track for a six-hour mission.
The Air Force Hurricane Hunters flew yesterday and early this morning into Gabrielle. One of NASA’s Global Hawk was also flying earlier today and completed a 24 hour flight mission investigating the environment in and around Gabrielle.
