El tenue olor a sal emana por todo el espacio mientras cables y tubos suspendidos de forma intrincada sobre brazos robóticos se mueven por raíles hechos a medida sobre cuatro filas de tanques llenos de agua de mar y fragmentos de corales en peligro crítico. En el Laboratorio Experimental de Arrecifes, científicos del Laboratorio Oceanográfico y Meteorológico del Atlántico (AOML) de la NOAA y del Instituto Cooperativo de Estudios Marinos y Atmosféricos (CIMAS) investigan cómo afectan los efectos del cambio climático a las especies de coral que son fundamentales para la formación de arrecifes, utilizando un conjunto de brazos robóticos de código abierto diseñados y construidos en el AOML.
