NOAA’s Gulfstream hurricane hunter jet took off from Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, FL to fly around Hurricane Maria around 1:30 PM ET (1730 UTC). The jet will collect data around Maria to learn more about the environment that surrounds it. Below is the planned flight track. This flight will land in Barbados. The dots on the track represent the dropwindsonde launch locations.
