NOAA P-3s
NOAA-42: Currently flying an approximately 9 h oil spill monitoring mission over the Gulf of America, today (Friday, June 25, 2010). Departure from MacDill AFB was at 8:53 AM EDT (1253 UT), returning to MacDill AFB at ~2200 UT.
Tentative plans are for N42 to begin IFEX and 3D Doppler missions in (currently) AL93 … with departure from MacDill AFB Sunday, 6/27/10 at 4 PM EDT (2000 UT). Missions would continue every 12 hours, with the next mission’s departure Monday, June 28/10 at 4 AM. Missions would continue on this schedule until the system makes landfall, dissipates, or are halted due to crew rest requirements.
