“Into hurricanes we fly—not to flee, but to understand.”

Guo Lin is currently a postdoctoral associate at NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) Hurricane Research Division (HRD), and the University of Miami/CIMAS. His research focuses on the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) and its critical role in land-atmosphere interactions, air-sea interaction, severe storms, and tropical cyclones. At NOAA/AOML/HRD, his current research focuses on applying emerging technology to hurricane observation and analyzing high-resolution aircraft data to improve turbulence characterization in hurricanes, evaluating the impact of Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS) measurements, and identifying ways to enhance hurricane boundary layer parameterization. His investigations into scale-dependent turbulence and air-sea interaction exchange coefficients aim to bridge the gap between observational meteorology and numerical weather prediction.
