Lidia Cucurull participates in WMO’s 7th Workshop on the Impact of Various Observing Systems on NWP

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) held its 7th Workshop on the Impact of Various Observing Systems on NWP. The purpose of the workshop was to guide the design and evolution of components of the WMO Integrated Global Observing System for Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP). This extends from the short-range (1-2 days) to climate forecasts. The impact of various observing systems on climate analysis is also considered within scope of the Workshop.

Results of global and regional Observing System Experiments (OSEs) and Observing System Simulation Experiments (OSSEs) were presented. Specifically, Lidia Cucurull presented on the topic “Ongoing efforts for Observing System Simulation Experiments (OSSEs) under NOAA’s Quantitative Observing System Assessment Program (QOSAP).” She also chaired one of the sessions.
