HRD’s Jason Dunion, along with colleagues Chris Thorncroft, and Chris Velden, were presented with the prestigious Banner I. Miller Award at the AMS’s 33rd Hurricane and Tropical Meteorology Conference for their paper “The tropical cyclone diurnal cycle of mature hurricanes”. The work was cited for “identifying a fundamental process in tropical cyclones and elegantly defining its properties and potential implications using observational data.” The Banner I. Miller Award is presented every other year for an outstanding contribution to the science of hurricane and tropical weather forecasting published in a journal with international circulation during the 48 months prior to the deadline for nominations.
The authors made a presentation at the conference to highlight the results of the paper.
