NOAA’s Hurricane Hunter G-IV jet is flying its seventh flight into Hurricane Irma. The data collected helps us understand how Irma interacts with the surround environment. The flight took off at 1:30 AM ET (0530 UTC) from Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, FL. Below is the planned flight track. The dots represent the dropwindsonde launch locations.
