NOAA42 is scheduled for an EMC-tasked mission into Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine , takeoff from Lakeland at 1700 EDT (2100 UTC), returning there just about 5 hours later. The goal is to gather Doppler radar and dropwindsonde data for assimilation into numerical models. One-per-day flights are likely to continue until the system is no longer a threat to the U. S. coastline.
