There will be an EMC-tasked mission into Tropical Storm Dorian Monday, takeoff from Lakeland, FL at 1400 EDT (1800Z), recovering in St. Croix about 8 hours later. The goal of the mission is to obtain data in the core to improve model forecasts. The proposed flight track is shown below.
In addition, the National Hurricane Center has tasked another Synoptic Surveillance mission around Tropical Storm Dorian. The G-IV will perform two circumnavigations around Dorian to gather dropwindsonde data to improve model forecasts before potential impacts in the islands. The G-IV will depart St. Croix at 1730 UTC and return there about 8 hours later. The proposed flight track is shown below.
