Hurricane Field Program Update — Saturday, August 24, 2019

The National Hurricane Center has tasked NOAA49 for a synoptic surveillance mission around what is now Tropical Storm Dorian.  The aircraft will depart Lakeland at 1730 UTC and recover in St. Croix about 8 h later, after circumnavigating the storm.  The purpose of the mission is to obtain dropwindsonde and Doppler radar data to improve forecasts for Dorian reaches the Lesser Antilles.  The proposed flight track is shown below.

No other missions are currently planned with NOAA aircraft.
