Hurricane Field Program Update — Friday, September 13, 2019, 11pm EDT

NOAA42 recently completed an EMC-tasked mission into what is now Tropical Storm Humberto.  The data from the mission was integral in upgrading the system from a tropical depression.  The aircraft will conduct a second such mission on 14 September, departing Lakeland around 5 pm EDT (2100 UTC) and returning there 4.5 hours later.  The aircraft will sample Humberto in a butterfly pattern, and the south-to-north leg to the east will sample the region during an overpass of the Atmospheric Dynamics Mission Aeolus satellite to help validate its data.  A third mission the next day is also planned.
