G-IV: The jet was tasked by NHC to fly a synoptic surveillance mission around Tropical Storm Nate. This flight took off around 1:30 AM ET (0530 UTC) from Lakeland, FL. No HRD scientists were on this flight.

NOAA42: The P3 was scheduled to fly an Analysis of Intensification Processes Experiment (AIPEX) research mission into Tropical Storm Nate. Take off was at 4:00 AM ET (0800 UTC). Four HRD scientists were on this flight.
