US Argo Data Assembly Center Operations

Floats used in the international Argo program are free drifting profiling instruments distributed over the global oceans. These floats measure temperature and salinity in the upper 2,000 meters. Almost 3,000 of these Argo floats have been deployed providing 100,000 temperature/salinity profiles and reference velocity measurements per year.

Data collected from Argo floats are transmitted in real-time via satellite to data distribution centers (e.g. The Global Telecommunication System) and are freely available to everyone. These data are used in climate and oceanographic research.

Operational products and data tracking for floats are processed by the US Argo Data Assembly Center. These web pages provide easy access to data plots for all floats.
