South Atlantic Argo Regional Center
Quality Control

Introduction

All floats passing through the South Atlantic Argo Regional Center Region (20N - 40S, 70W - 20E) are analyzed to allow the detection of inconsistencies of the data set. This analysis includes the comparison of profiles from floats with independent observations collected by floats or other instruments as well as with climatologies and reanalysis fields from numerical models.

The results of this analysis are an important tool to ensure and maintain the highest possible quality of Argo data.

Access to web pages presenting results for each float is possible in four ways:

(1) "Delayed-Mode Floats" links to a table that lists all floats that were analyzed (sorted by the WMO Id).

(2) "Data Centers" links to a table of all Argo data centers with floats in the region. It has links to separate tables for each data centers' floats.

(3) "Principal Investigators" links to a table of all principal investigators with floats in the region. It has links to separate tables for the floats of each PI.

(4) "Summary Plots" links to a page that provides links to figures showing the means, standard deviations, slopes and intercepts of the differences in temperature and salinity, as well as the number of profiles used in the analysis. Hot spots to floats are available on these plots.
