The Leeuwin Current

Location of IX15, which is used to compute the Leeuwin Current velocity at 30°S, overlaid on the (left) Mean Dynamic Topography, and (right) Mean Geostrophic Velocity from the MDT_CNES-CLS09 climatology.

Mean Leeuwin Current velocity (30°S)

Baroclinic geostrophic velocity accross IX15 based on preliminary analysis of the XBT data.

The XBT data along IX15 can be obtained here>>

The Mean Dynamic Topography and Mean Geostrophic Velocity fields are from the MDT_CNES-CLS09 climatology produced by CLS Space Oceanography Division and distributed by AVISO, with support from CNES.
