The California Current System

Location of PX37, which is used to compute the California Current System velocity, overlaid on the (left) Mean Dynamic Topography, and (right) Mean Geostrophic Velocity from the MDT_CNES-CLS09 climatology.

Mean California Current System velocity (34°N)

Baroclinic geostrophic velocity accross PX37 based on preliminary analysis of the XBT data.

The XBT data along PX37 can be obtained here>>

The Mean Dynamic Topography and Mean Geostrophic Velocity fields are from the MDT_CNES-CLS09 climatology produced by CLS Space Oceanography Division and distributed by AVISO, with support from CNES.
