Joseph Bishop is a Mechanical Engineer with the Ocean Chemistry and Ecosystem Division of the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory. Since his start in OCED he has been instrumental in numerous projects such as Miami Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS), MOMS, and Florida Area Coastal Environment (FACE). He has designed, built and deployed numerous instrument platforms for the successful collection of data. He holds a captains license and is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the R/V Hildebrand. Joe received an AA from Broward Community College and a BS degree in Ocean Engineering from Florida Atlantic University. His specialty was in ocean acoustics and environmental engineering. He also took courses towards a degree in Applied Marine Physics at the University of Miami/Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.
