Jen McWhorter, Ph.D., a Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Science (CIMAS) Assistant Scientist with AOML’s Ocean Biogeochemistry and Physical Oceanography teams, has been selected to serve a one year term as a member of the NOAA in the Caribbean Executive Team.
As a member of the Executive Team, McWhorter will help provide strategic direction for the group and represent AOML as the team aims to share and communicate NOAA’s scientific knowledge with Caribbean communities.

NOAA in the Caribbean was established by NOAA’s Southeast and Caribbean Regional Collaboration Team (SECART) in 2011 as a means to more effectively communicate, coordinate and provide critical services to domestic and international partners throughout the Caribbean.
Leveraging skills, expertise and products across NOAA’s line offices, NOAA in the Caribbean helps provide trainings, strategies for effective conservation and management of coastal ecosystems, and enhanced monitoring and forecasting of multi-hazard disasters – from hurricane forecasting and tsunami warning systems to environmental stressors impacting crucial resources.
Congratulations, Jen!
