“The development of autonomous sensor platforms like Argo profiling floats made it possible to perform long-term monitoring of chemical tracers and bio-optical parameters for studying ocean carbon cycle.”

Dr. Yang is currently working for the Argo data center at AOML. He received his Ph.D. at University of South Florida in 2015. His Ph.D. research focused on seawater CO2 system and coastal ocean acidification, which included the development of new analytical methods and instruments, time-series field observations, and lab-based physical chemistry studies. From 2015 to 2020, Dr. Yang worked as a postdoc at University of Washington and University of Virginia, where his research focused on using data from autonomous sensor platforms (mostly BGC-Argo floats), satellite remote sensing, and model simulation to study the biological carbon production in the ocean. He has published 22 peer-reviewed papers (10 as first author) since 2012.
