EX0801E Readme Class of Data: Surface ocean carbon dioxide concentrations Dataset Identifer: EX0801E Expocode: 33KF20080213 Statement of how to cite dataset: For information on dataset citation and more, please see Master Readme File. Explorer website: http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/ocd/gcc/explorer_introduction.php Measurement platform identifier: EX0801E/Explorer Data quality issues: Due to the slow response time of the system, removed the first 20 minutes of data for each hour for the entire cruise. Converted the wind speed data (both true and relative) to meters per second. The system was down from 2/15/08 (10:47) to 2/16/08 (15:47). Merged missing latitude and longitude data into the data file from VIDS\GPS1. Removed the following questionable data - JD 50.057 to JD 50.292 and JD 52.655 to JD 52.696. Due to low gas flow removed the following data - JD 61.142 to JD 61.147, JD 61.154 to JD 61.156, JD 61.191 to JD 61.192 and JD 61.196 to JD 61.198. The equil pressure was bad from JD 44.793 to JD 51.959. From JD 44.793 to JD 46.417, interpolated equil pressure using sealevel pressure. From JD 47.668 to JD 51.959 there was no sealevel pressure to interpolate the equil pressure so this data was not included in the final file. Standard Gases and Reference Gas: The three standard gases come from CMDL in Boulder and are directly traceable to the WMO scale. The reference gas is a non-calibrated gas from a commercial company. Any value outside the range of the standards (300 ppm, 360 ppm, and 420 ppm) should be considered approximate (5 ppm). While individual data points above 420 or below 300 may not be accurate, the general trends should be indicative of the seawater chemistry. The standards used on the cruise are: STANDARD TANK # CONCENTRATION VENDOR STD1 CA02040 319.82 CMDL STD2 CA02030 377.14 CMDL STD3 CA02020 458.04 CMDL Reference Gas Commercial Units: All xCO2 values are reported in parts per million (ppm) and fCO2 values are reported in microatmospheres (uatm) assuming 100% humidity at the equilibrator temperature. The first hour of data after leaving port is removed.
