Tuesday, August 30, 2005 Tropical Depression 13 was downgraded to an open wave yesterday. The remnants of T.D. #13 are disorganized (Fig. 57), with no evidence of a surface circulation. As evident from the low-level layer-mean flow (Fig. 58), these remnants should track toward the north-northwest, well out of range of any possible mission even if it were to develop. Another wave located further east shows some convection associated with it (Fig. 59). QuickScat imagery (Fig. 60) shows an elliptical closed circulation associated with this system. This system will continue to be monitored, as track guidance (Fig. 61) indicates it will move toward the west-northwest, possibly in range of St. Croix if it develops and becomes a target either for Frequent Monitoring or RAINEX. N42RF flew an Ocean Winds test flight today. The data will be evaluated for the next day or two to determine if another test flight is necessary. If not, then N42RF will be ready to fly by the end of this week. N43RF underwent 50-hr maintenance today, and will be ready to fly tomorrow.
