from:lu02 to:ax07@noaa.gov subject:Re: Re Re Re Re Just checking I think that's just the generic error when it doesn't know the actual error. I bet it's related to the DoD taking control of the satellites during a time window. From what I've been told, the DoD can take full control whenever they want to conduct tests on their systems making our modems unusable. I've also hear that they do this on a daily basis. So if you tried to transmit during one of those windows, then we wouldn't be able to transmit. you can probably get a beter idea by looking the auto-ftp log /home/user/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/AMVERSEAS_V9/Report/SeasTransceiverInterface/log.txt The best thing to do so that we could hack your generated report is to fly back with the laptop. If you can't, copy the whole Amvverseas folder minus the big files. /home/user/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/AMVERSEAS_V9 you can omit he following files /home/user/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/AMVERSEAS_V9/DataBases/WOA13_Temperature.db /home/user/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/AMVERSEAS_V9/DataBases/bathymetry Talk you later, Pedro ax07 wrote: from:ax07 to:lu02@noaa.gov subject:Re: Re Re Re Just checking Fair enough. Just wanted to check and see. I didn't want a message to not go through because the address was not correct. I didn't figure anything would change, but I want to note the suggestion so that it can be kept in mind for the future. The Transciever interface log only shows unknown error. I rebooted once or twice, so I can't see the logs from the terminal anymore, but I recall something like error 652 or something like that. I tried rebooting the modem once, and it didn't work, then I rebooted both modem and computer (modem for a little longer this time.). That seems to have done the trick. I also found out that we're sitting out here until approximately 18:00 today, the 27th and heading in that evening towards port with a berthing time of morning on the 28th. That may change later on today, but for now, that's the plan. So I don't get a nice bit of time to take everything down like I thought I would. It's just standard rush to get it done while the ship is coming into port. I don't know how much Ibis can or will actually change for the next version of amverseas seeing that we're all displaced and hertime is now divided with ARGO. She probably won't change things until we're in our offices downstairs. So what was the Iridium issue? did you have to reboot the modem? ax07 wrote: from:ax07 to:lu02@noaa.gov subject:Re: Re Just checking Hi Pedro, Yeah, of course a couple of hours after I sent the message, I got one from my wife and one from Ricardo. My flight back is the 30th, because it looks like the ship isn't getting in until the 28th to Algeciras. It sounds like we might be able to get in the night of the 27th, but we're unsure. We should definitely be there early though. I'm close to the higher sampling rate at the end of the cruise, but since we're so early, we are apparently stopping for approximately 5 hours to avoid a storm. I've got the distance drop plan in place, it shows way more than 5 hours to reach the next drop point, which is fine. I also have the ship moving alarm set. I'm going to use this time to try to get a few hours uninterrupted sleep. I'm guessing what's going to happen is we're going to head in towards Algeciras once we start moving again and I'll end up stopping when the ship stops before hitting port so that I can start taking things down. I'll send messages once I do that. Also, if I wanted to copy Ricardo on one of these messages, how should I separate email addresses in the TO: field? Is it a comma, a comma space, a semicolon? Don't forget Muscle Memory! Best regards, Zach lu02 wrote: from:lu02 to:ax07@noaa.gov subject:Re: Just checking Hi Zach, All is good in the world, we are communicating. I haven't heard from anyone in a couple of days and I want to make sure that the messages are actually going through. When I do get messages, it goes through fine and says that CWD was successful but then just says goodbye. I believe that this is the correct activity, but I had thought I'd hear something from someone today, so I'm getting a little paranoid that things aren't working right. If you could just let me know you got this message, that would be great. Best regards, Zach
