from:ax07 to:lu02@noaa.gov subject:AX08 Checkin Hi Pedro, Things are going alright out here. Might be one tube down on my autolauncher, but I haven't been able to fully check it out yet. Looks like there is a tube that is no longer recognizing probes. That or the last two probes I have put in there are bad. I'll try moving the probe over and not pulling the pin on the new probe in that tube to test it on my next load. Can you also ask Francis to keep an eye on the AX08? He was copied on messages between Jim, Gus, and I late on Friday that sounded like the AX08 was not going to be happening this time around as the ship had technicians on board and didn't have space for Gus. We weren't 100% sure if they meant just the Durban to Cape Town leg of the trip or the full thing. I didn't see any messages before we left on Saturday, so I don't know if Jim was able to find anything out. If Gus is not able to go on this trip, the Visby comes around a couple of weeks later and we can have Gus try to take the equipment off the Vilnius in Durban and switch over to the Visby if he can go at that time (dates are in my original email I sent them all). If he cannot go, we might have to see if a replacement rider is available. Sorry for the long message. I wasn't able to resolve it before I left and I didn't get a chance to talk to Francis about it on Saturday during the loading. Best regards, Zach
