from:ax07 to:lu01@noaa.gov subject:Re: Re Re Temp Offset Profiles Hey Zach, Roger all of that; thanks for the in depth response. I didn't know about the ability to right click a specific tube and recheck only that one. Great trick! That'll definitely save time, and sanity, moving forward. Several new features I'm still stumbling on to... Ibis has been hard at work, that's for sure! Thanks again for getting back to me. I'll let you know if any craziness ensues, Shaun lu01 wrote: from:lu01 to:ax07@noaa.gov subject:Re: Re Temp Offset Profiles Hi Shaun, That's fine. We figured that at least one of them you missed. If you think a profile has a temperature offset, go ahead and drop another one. it'll confirm it one way or another and is well within the 10%. Strange that it'sfrom different tubes. I'll talk to Pedro about it when I see him next. I suspect that it might be the probes also though. I had a few on my cruise that were offset like that. That's entirely up to you. If it's consistent across certain tubes, that may be the cause. Also, remember that you can right click on the individual tube when it is red/green/etc and recheck that tube specifically. If you have less than 5 tubes to check, I would do it individually, it's quicker. That might not be the autolauncher, but might be the length of the CAT5 run or the interface box giving intermittent issues. I wouldn't worry about it too much. That test is not an end all-be all for knowing if tubes are working. But please note this down for your report so we can check it when the gear gets back here. As for avoiding future offsets, not really. It's 90% of the time a bad probe or something that just didn't work right with that particular drop. There's nothing in amverseas that can be changed to help mitigate it as far as I know. I would just do a re-drop and be on your way, unless there starts to be a tube or tubes with consistent issues. That would be cause for greater concern. If it's intermittent, it might be the launcher, but for the only two I've seen so far, I wouldn't change anything. I thought it was strange, but without other means to verify the discrepancy, I assumed you guys would QC it. Unfortunately, these weren't from the same tube. Drop one was from tube #6, while drop two was from tube #3. I may switch to the backup AL....I didn't realize it was creating offsets, but I am having to check tubes multiple times for the system to recognize all tubes loaded. Oddly enough, it'll say tubes 1 and 3 are empty, then I'll check tubes again and it'll say tubes 7 and 8 are empty. Finally, after a third try, it recognizes all 8 tubes and all is well. That's happened to me 3 time now, with restarts and hail marry's within. lol Any suggestions on how to avoid future offsets? Any setting changes I can do within Amverseas? Talk soon, Shaun lu01 wrote: from:lu01 to:ax07@noaa.gov subject:Temp Offset Profiles Hi Shaun, Hope everything is going well out there. We've seen a couple of profiles that have temperature offasets or seem to have temperature offsets. They are: June 19 2018, 00:50GMT June 20 2018, 23:02GMT Can you check if those were used with the same tube? It might be that one tube has an intermittent problem. It might be that the upper temperature was correct, but it's a big enough jump in temperature from the profiles around them that it's suspect. Let me know what you have or think. Best regards, Zach
