driftertrajWMLE[1234].txt contains the product of hourly location and velocity of surface drifters from the Global Drifter Program as described in Elipot et al. (2016), "A global surface drifter dataset at hourly resolution", accepted to JGR Oceans in March 2016. Each file is an ASCII text file with one hourly data entry per line, with the following 14 columns: 1 : identification number from the Global Drifter Program 2 : Julian day since 01/01/1979 3 : hour of day (UTC) 4 : longitude 5 : latitude 6 : zonal velocity in meter per second 7 : meridional velocity in meter per second 8 : longitude uncertainty forming 95% confidence interval (CI) calculated as the 3.1824/\sqrt(3) times the standard deviation estimate; see Elipot et al. 2016 9 : latitude uncertainty forming 95% confidence interval (CI) calculated as the 3.1824/\sqrt(3) times the standard deviation estimate 10 : zonal velocity uncertainty forming 95% confidence interval (CI) calculated as the 3.1824/\sqrt(3) times the standard deviation estimate 11 : meridional velocity uncertainty forming 95% confidence interval (CI) calculated as the 3.1824/\sqrt(3) times the standard deviation estimate 12 : length of interpolating gap in hours; it is the difference between the time of the first Argos fix forward in time minus the time of the last Argos fix backward in time 13 : root mean square temporal distance in hours between the hourly interpolating time and the four Argos fixes used for the estimation (three Argos fixes for beginning and end of trajectory). 14 : drogue status; 1 = drogue on, 0 = drogue off
