The files in this directory contain time series of measurements from inverted echo sounders. Each file contains a header portion and a data portion. The header portion contains the following information; - Experiment name - Site name - Serial number of the instrument - Mooring latitude (in decimal degrees North) - Mooring longitude (in decimal degrees East) - Nominal mooring depth (in meters) - Deployment Year, month, and day - Recovery Year, month, and day The lines of header information all begin with a percent sign (%). The data segment of the file contains the following seven columns; - Year - Month - Day - Hour - Minute - Second - Measured travel time (in seconds) The measured travel times are accurate to approximately 0.001 seconds. The files have been compressed using the "zip" routine; software is available for Unix, Windows, and Macintosh computers to uncompress this format. Once uncompressed, the files are simply ASCII format. This data is provided on the World Wide Web by the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which is a division of the United States Department of Commerce. Funding for the deployment and recovery of some of these instruments was provided by the US National Science Foundation. While all effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the data in these files on the part of the participating scientists, no warranty is intended or implied regarding this data on the part of the US government.
