From otero@aoml.noaa.gov Tue Jan 26 08:12:14 1999 Date: Mon, 25 Jan 1999 19:07:16 -0500 (EST) From: Sonia Otero To: unix@aoml.noaa.gov Cc: Robert E. Kohler Subject: OCD's and Ooyama's incrementals I restored all the incrementals from January 7th through 21st at 1:00am (the day of the crash); meaning that it has all the changes made from Jan. 6th to the 20th. Since the full backup was from January 9th, the incrementals should provide a very approximate picture of the reality up to Jan. 20th. All the people for which incrementals exist: carsey, forcucci, forde, gurnee, hendee, jeffris, masters, ocd, ortner, shoemake, wanninkh, yy For all of them, I created a subdirectory in their home directories called "Incrementals". There, you will find what they have missing. If, for any reason, you need to access older data, I have left the directories wave:/BACKUP/Restores/{Incr1.7,..,Incr1.21} where you can see the file differences one day at a time. The compiled version for each user is in wave:/BACKUP/Restores/increm. As John suggested, we should work on a one-to-one basis with each user. Especially for mail, we should insert the messages of the recovered 'mbox' into their current 'mbox', which has already changed from the arrival of new messages since last Friday, and the same applies to any folders in the 'mail' directory. Now, I'll restore the regular backup schedule, which has been upset with so much restore time.
