The BOTDATA.CSV file is comma delimited ASCII file and contains the data from analysis of the Niskin bottle samples from CTD casts performed during FSLE. These are preliminary data and have not been corrected since the cruise. Note that the CTD sensors, P, T, and O2 had a significant hysterises problem which has not been corrected for . The CTD/ROSETTE system had 12 bottles mounted. All electronic CTD data is for the upcast when the bottle was tripped. The CTD was a SEABIRD 911 unit equipped with duplicate T and P sensors. Columns in the BOTDATA.CSV file (cells with no entries have -999.99 as default): Operation #: An unique key number for the event of format YYDDDHHMM, where YY is the year, DDD is the Julian day (Remember 1996 was a leap year), HHMM hour and minute in GMT JD: Fractional Julian Day CTD #: Number of CTD in sequence in which it is taken Niskin #: Niskin position where #1 is the bottom sample sample #: Unique number for the bottle sample comprised of (C)CCBB where (C)CC is the CTD cast # and BB is the Niskin position number Lat (dec): Decimal latitude when cast is at bottom Long (dec): Decimal longitude when cast is at bottom Pressure 1: Pressure reading from primary sensor Pressure 2: Pressure reading from secondary sensor Temp 1: Temperature from primary sensor Temp 2: Temperature from secondary sensor CTD Salinity: Sensor salinity bottle salts: Salinities from bottle sample bottle-CTD salts: difference between bottle and CTD salts, as an indicator of mistrips, hysterises, and bottle problems pot dens: potential density calculated from CTD salinity and Temp 1 O2, AOML (µmol/kg): Winkler Oxygen analyses from AOML (updated 12/4 from µmol/l to µmol/kg using in situ density) Oxygen (From CTD): Oxygen values obtained from the CTD (not reliable) AVG CHL(µg/l): Average chlorophyll (N=3) AVG.
