Before taking off we switched from 5305 to 5308 due to cabin pressurization issues. We approached from the northeast to 21.4N 94.4W and continued to the SW until 20N then turned due east until 92W. At that point we headed straight north to 23.5N, went back due west to 96.5W, then south to 21N and finally NE to 23N. The SW side of the storm had the strongest winds (max 50kts at the sfc of SFMR) and some convection. We were also in moderate turbulence for awhile. We ultimately determined there was no closed low level center and that it looked more like an open trough, but the system was upgraded to a PTC based on our data. As far as issues, SATCOM stopped working from 1708Z-1740Z due to some icing issues. The hygrometer also showed red Tds from 1730Z onward, even after normal troubleshooting. Finally, we had GPS FOM issues and had to switch from C to F (FOM 2 on both systems).
