Smith | |Nav | Mitchell | |ARWO | Olsen, Rickert | |LM | Klingenberger | |OTHER| | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMARKS: 13 RECCOs, 4 VDMs (17 total obs) This was a 16/1130Z & 1730Z fix mission into Tropical Storm Fiona. The center was estimated to be at 15.8N 58.7W and we entered from the SW to the NE, then to the NW quadrant, and ended in the SE quadrant for the first alpha pattern. For the second alpha, we entered from the NE to the SW, SW to the SE, and then to the NW. Before we got to the NW, we exited due W, did a 60NM leg and then headed home. The storm was very asymmetric, highly sheared, and the convection was skewed off to the NE. We flew at FL025, and it was a somewhat messy fix for the first pass as we came in from the SW. We had 105NM legs on the E side and 60NM legs on the west. Overall the storm's intensity remained pretty consistent with SLPs of 1006mb for the first fix and 1005mb for the remaining three fixes. The max FL wind was 57kt. As far as issues, the HDD CAM4 display showed "no video input" and we got a GPS FOM error of 2 at 1100Z and switched from system C to F.
