Severe Weather

by Evan B. Forde

Educating the public about safety issues related to severe weather is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) mission. This Severe Weather poster was created by Evan B. Forde and 50,000 of them have been distributed by the National Science Teacher Association for NOAA to help educate the public about hazardous weather conditions. The four types of severe weather highlighted in this poster are hurricanes, flash floods, lightning, and tornadoes. In addition to relating scientific principals directly related to meteorology, this poster addresses and reinforces key scientific elements relating to physical, Earth, and space science, and examines how the ability to conduct meaningful scientific advances in meteorology has been enhanced and improved through technological improvements.
