Women in Oceanography

Women in Oceanography: A Decade Later was published as a stand-alone supplement to Oceanography magazine. The volume contains a series of very interesting articles depicting the past and present challenges that women in modern oceanography face and the evolution of the role of women in the field. In addition, the volume includes autobiographical-scientific sketches of individual women oceanographers, some of them updates from past decades, others from scientists welcomed into the field since the last publication Link>>. Silvia Garzoli, Libby Johns, Renellys Perez, and Claudia Schmid were invited to be part of the one-page autobiographical-scientific pieces.  These sketches were solicited by the magazine to "display the depth, richness, complexity, and challenges of our field" and the experiences of "women scientists, at all career stages and in all career paths".
