Previous Underwater Glider Missions

Missions 44 through 49: June-November, 2022 (Hurricane Season)

Six underwater gliders were deployed in the Caribbean Sea and Tropical North Atlantic as part of the 2022 NOAA Hurricane Field Program. Five gliders were successfully recovered in November 2022.


Missions 38 through 43: June-November, 2021 (Hurricane Season)

Six underwater gliders were deployed in the Caribbean Sea and the Tropical North Atlantic, including one glider east of the Bahamas, as part of the 2021 NOAA Hurricane Field Program. All gliders were successfully recovered in October and November 2021.


Missions 29 through 37: July-November, 2020 (Hurricane Season)

Nine underwater gliders were deployed in the Caribbean Sea and Tropical North Atlantic as part of the 2020 NOAA Hurricane Field Program. All gliders were successfully recovered in November.


Missions 22 through 28: July-November, 2019 (Hurricane Season)

Seven underwater gliders were deployed in the Caribbean Sea, the Tropical North Atlantic, and the Florida Current as part of the 2019 NOAA Hurricane Field Program. All gliders were successfully recovered in November.


Missions 18, 19, 20, and 21: July-November, 2018 (Hurricane Season)

Four underwater gliders were deployed in the Caribbean Sea and Tropical North Atlantic as part of the 2018 NOAA Hurricane Field Program. All gliders were successfully recovered in November.


Missions 15, 16 and 17: July-November, 2017 (Hurricane Season)

Three underwater gliders were deployed in the Caribbean Sea and Tropical North Atlantic as part of the 2017 NOAA Hurricane Field Program. All gliders were successfully recovered in November.


Missions 13 and 14: March, 2017

Two underwater gliders were deployed in the Caribbean Sea. Due to issues with the glider, the mission was interrupted and both gliders were sucessfully recovered.


Missions 9, 10, 11 and 12: July - November, 2016 (Hurricane Season)

Two underwater gliders were deployed in the Caribbean Sea, and two in the North Atlantic. Over 5,000 temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and chlorophyll profiles were collected during this mission.


Missions 7 and 8: March - June, 2016

Two underwater gliders were deployed on March, 2016, in the Caribbean Sea. Over 1,500 temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen profiles were recovery on June, 2016.


Missions 5 and 6: July - November, 2015 (Hurricane Season)

Two underwater gliders were deployed on July, 2015, one in the Caribbean Sea, and one in the North Atlantic Ocean. Together, both gliders collected over 2,700 temperature and salinity and dissolved oxygen were collected until their recovery on November, 2015.


Missions 3 and 4: February - April, 2015

Two underwater gliders were deployed in the Caribbean Sea on February, 2015. During this second mission, the two gliders collected 2022 temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen profiles until recovery on April, 2015.


Missions 1 and 2: July - November, 2014 (Hurricane Season)

Two underwater gliders were deployed on July, 2014, one in the Caribbean Sea, and one in the North Atlantic Ocean. Together, both gliders collected 2844 temperature and salinity profiles until recovery on November, 2014.
