Comparison between altimetry and cable estimates of transport

The altimetry-derived time series of geostrophic transport is compared to the Florida Current Transport Project time series. Both transport time series are estimated at a section across 27°N.

The diamonds indicate the anual mean values. No anual mean values are computed for years with less than 10 months of data. This time series is updated on a monthly basis using near real time altimetry data (4 week delay) and real time cable data. Last updated on 10/2/17 12:42 am.

Full time series of cable estimates of transport

Full transport time series estimated from calibrated cable voltages at a section across 27°N by the Florida Current Transport Project.

The diamonds indicate the anual mean values. No anual mean values are computed for years with less than 10 months of data. This time series is updated on a monthly basis using real time cable data. Last updated on 10/2/17 12:42 am.

The Florida Current cable and section data are made freely available on the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory web page (www.aoml.noaa.gov/phod/floridacurrent/) and are funded by the NOAA Office of Climate Observations.
