Underway measurements

Underway measurements included pCO2 (Wanninkhof), and the various variables of the SEWARD JOHNSON's IMET system (surface water temperature and conductivity, oxygen, meteorological parameters, GPS navigation, ship's speed and heading and bathymetry) and thermosalinograph system (TSG) (temperature and salinity). The TSG was shut off during most of leg 3 because of rough seas and the unit pumping too much air. Bathymetry was recorded every 5 minutes from the PDR for use in constructing vertical sections and as additional input to the overall database (Smith - Geological Data Center at Scripps Institution of Oceanography). Continuous sampling along the trackline from the ADCP-RDI hull mounted 150kHz ADCP was also recorded.
