SFERPM Coral Reef Monitoring Goals

The health of the coral reefs of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS) depends upon the water quality (temperature, salinity, nutrients, and chemical contaminants) of the waters that flow over them. With Restoration, not just water quantity but water quality throughout South Florida coastal waters will be changed. The goal of the SFERPM Coral Reef Monitoring project is to provide the coral reef research and management community with the real-time quality controlled data they need to distinguish natural from Restoration-related change.
