A map showing the track of the PACS 1997 cruise.  Leg 2 begins at the Panama Canal and proceeds to 7.8 N, 125 W, where the ship remained on station for 15 days before steaming to San Diego.  Leg 3 starts in San Diego and occurs in the area bounded by 20 N, 33 N, 117 W, and 130 W before returning to San Diego.

A map showing the track of the VENTS 1997 cruise.  Leg 1 goes from San Diego, CA to Newport, OR.  Leg 2 starts and begins in Newport, OR and occurs well off the Oregon coast in an area bounded by 43 N, 48 N, 125 W, and 131 W.  Leg 3 goes from Newport, OR to San Francisco, CA. VENTS: Leg 1-3
