Swath of Hurricane Donna's 125 miles per hour sustained winds shown as dashed contours and peak storm surge (feet) shown in boxes. These values are superimposed on the environmental damage indicated as shaded areas surrounding Florida Bay (Craighead and Gilbert 1962). Note that Palm Key lost 47 of 50 large cabbage palms (these were survivors of the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane).
