Mission Plan :

The G-IV jet, with scientific crew of Sean White, Hugh Willoughby, and a Taiwanese scientist, Pay-Liam Lin, is conducting an NHC-tasked synoptic surveillance mission around Tropical Storm Isidore at the nominal time of 00 UTC/September 20. Take-off time was at 1:30 PM EDT from MacDill AFB and landing at 10:00 PM EDT at MacDill AFB, FL.

Mission Summary :

A phone call was made to the Hurricane Specialist on Duty, Lixion Avila, The following important information was relayed :

Circulation is evident in deep-layer mean. Deep-layer anticyclone may be located over central Bahamas. Ridge axis is probably north of 25°N.
There was nice outflow at 200 to 250 mb. An anticyclone was centered over the storm.
Three weak cyclonic circulations were at 300 mb, one about 500 km southwest of storm, another about 800 km southwest, and the other about 600 km east of storm. They weren't reflected at other levels.
Dry air in southern Gulf of Mexico, Gulf of Honduras, and eastern Bahamas, were far away from the storm.
