Mission Plan :

The G-IV jet, with scientific crew of Sean White and a Taiwanese scientist, Pay-Liam Lin, is conducting an NHC-tasked synoptic surveillance mission around Tropical Storm Isidore at the nominal time of 00 UTC/September 19. Take-off time was at 1:30 PM EDT from MacDill AFB and landing at 10:00 PM EDT at MacDill AFB, FL.

Mission Summary :

A call was made to the Hurricane Specialist on Duty, Lixion Avila. The following important information was relayed to the specialist :

Circulation evident in deep-layer mean. No sign of ridge axis or trough in data.
Upper-level anticyclone centered to the north of the storm center at 200 mb, easterly shear over center.
Upper-level trough along 90°W, 220 mb to 300 mb, weak reflection at 400 mb.
Storm cirulation extends upward to 250 mb, but is tilted eastward above 400 mb.
Low-level dry air in Gulf of Mexico.
