REMARKS:
Tasked to fly INVEST 0207A Bay of Campeche by 20:00zulu.
(Remnants of TD7).
CARCAH stated due to
center's proximity to land, "get what we can" out of this storm.
Fly partial legs, whatever we want/are able to do.
Understood full normal ALPHA not possible.
Took "ON TIME RECCO" Observation at 19:29zulu within 250nm of estimated center.
Took "INBOUND NE RECCO" observation at 19:56 zulu.
Found Center during INVEST (no radar signature) over water.
Took three total VDM's
and went home (as required by CARCAH).
Did not take outbound RECCO after 3rd fix (as requested by CARCAH).
Only one Sonde Release en route to Storm (Systems Check). No drops in
storm environment.
Storm was flown beginning to end at FL010.
9 AXBT's were dropped. All were successful.
RADAR recorder was INOP. Annotated in FORMS for MET TECHS to troubleshoot.
