README for ADCP.CSV file

The ADCP data is obtained from a hull mounted 150 Khz ADCP mounted  in the bow bubble of the MALCOLM BALDRIGE at nominally 6-m depth.  The bin size of the ADCP was set at 4-m.  The data is a water column  average of the upper two bins (nominally 8-16 m) with filtering and 20-minute smoothing applied.  Data was reduced by Doug Wilson in November, 1996.  This data has not been checked for quality or consistency.  Please let us know if anomalous values are found

JD: fractional Julian day (in GMT)
Lat: latitude (fractional degrees)
Long: longitude (fractional degrees)
u (cm/s): velocity in x direction in cm/s
v (cm/s): velocity in y-direction
magnitude (cm/s): square root of the u^2 + v^2
angle (degree, 0=E): calculated angle of velocity vector with due eastward flow being 0 degrees: NOTE: this was calculated by Rik W. whose trigonometry is very poor, please check and use with caution
