The Florida Bay and
Adjacent Marine Systems
Science Conference
The annual science conference
has been an integral part of the interagency
Florida Bay Science Program since it began in 1994. The
conference is intended for three primary purposes: 1) to provide scientists in different
agencies or institutions who work on different projects information on the progress being
made by their peers thereby facilitating collaboration and cross-fertilization amongst
each other, 2) to regularly update the Florida Bay Science
Oversight Panel so they can recommend necessary programmatic changes to
the PMC,
and 3) to publicize preliminary research results prior to publication since some are
relevant to ongoing restoration management decisions. Conferences were held in October of
1995, December of 1996, May of 1998, November
of 1999, and another is scheduled for
April
2001.
